FAQ’s

How much will a law suit cost?

There are a number of factors, which are included in the answer to this question.  The costs of a lawsuit can include the filing fee, expert witness charges, copy and reproduction charges, the charges for medical and employment records and deposition charges.  The Code of Ethics (yes, Lawyers have ethics!) prevents a lawyer from assuming the final responsibility for the payment of these expenses but there are options available to help you obtain a resolution to your legal situation.

How much do you charge for a consultation?

Generally, there is no charge for an initial consultation.

How much do you charge for a lawsuit?

This depends on the type of case.  If you are a defendant, the charge will either be a flat fee on which we both agree or an hourly rate.  If you are a plaintiff, there is another option.  In addition to being paid a flat fee or by the hour, we can arrive at an agreement where I will be paid a percentage of what we recover.   The percentage depends on how deep we get into the case.  It will be less if we can get it resolved quickly.  A case taken on a percentage will not include any appeals that may be necessary.

What do I need to bring a lawsuit?

The most important thing is an injury or damages.  If you have not been damaged or there is not a threat of imminent injury, a court cannot help you.  That is where a good agreement or contract can help you to head off any problems in the future.
